notifications to assignee claim the reason is subscription

Bug #253252 reported by Robert Collins

Bug Description

Malone seems to be automatically subscribing me to bugs I comment on.
I'd really love a knob to turn this off for me (commenting != wanting to
'join the list').

Secondly, and perhaps I should file a separate bug, its also subscribing
me to bugs for projects I'm on the bug list for - so I am already
getting notified. This is redundant, and if I was only commented because
of a team membership would be very annoying if I left the team to have
to manually unsubscribe from these bugs.

There is nothing in the code base that should automatically subscribe
you. Can you give an example of a bug you got subscribed to?

You get notifications about that bug since you're the assignee, not
because you commented on it.

Do the mail notifications tell you that you're receiving the message because you're the assignee?

Separately, perhaps assignees could be split out of "Also notified" into their own section in the subscriber list on the bug report page.

The mail said "You have been subscribed to a public bug."

Ok, then can I claim its confusing to say "You have been subscribed to a
public bug" if it means "You have been assigned to a public bug" ? (And
I get notification on it because I'm in the bzr developers team
anyhow ...)

Oh, right. Yes, that is confusing. I think we have a bug reported for
this already...

Is the the team named 'bzr'? If so, yes, it's a bit wrong to send you a
notification here. I'm actually a bit surprised that it did send you a
notification, it shouldn't have.

Yes, I'm in ~bzr. I only got one email though (as expected).

Bug 130902 is the equivalent problem for reporters.
