Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When I try to open my address book I now get an alert with the message:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: chrome://messenger/content/addressbook/addressbook.xul
Line Number 1, Column 16: dirTree.focus();
---------------^

I haven't had any problems lately and there's no reason I can think of to expect any corruption in the address book itself. In my configuration, the applications directory is under a vfat directory at /windows/d/application_data/Thunderbird/Profiles/gh4c4dp6.default but I haven't booted into windows for months.

I don't see anything that looks like addressbook under that directory and using locate I don't see addressbook.xul anywhere on my system. For that matter, I don't see anything that looks like an address book for thunderbird anywhere on the system.

According to help->about, this is version 2.0.0.14 of thunderbird under Ubuntu 8.04. To the best of my knowledge.

Hopefully there is some way I can recover my addressbook.

This looks a bit like Bug 93101, but that was reported so long ago I doubt that they're the same.

It's interesting that help->about gives version 2.0.0.14 but apt-cache policy gives 2.0.0.16.

I have restarted thunderbird once but get the same result.

apt-cache policy thunderbird
thunderbird:
  Installed: 2.0.0.16+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
  Candidate: 2.0.0.16+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1

     2.0.0.12+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0

Help please :)

Hi

After filing this bug, I first restarted Thunderbird and
that didn't help. I then rebooted the computer and that
seems to have cleared up the problem. Help->About now also
correctly reports that this is version 2.0.0.16 of Thunderbird.

Thanks!

Steve S.
