Boot time is over 40 seconds

Summary:
The boot time seems a bit long. I get 41-43 seconds from BIOS start to fully working desktop. Most of this time appears to be taken up by the desktop elements.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Push power button
2) Measure boot time

Expected result:
Boot time is shorter than 41 seconds

Actual result:
Boot time longer than 40 seconds

It takes 85 seconds on the Aspire One. These guys have looked in to it and decreased the boot time:

I confirmed that on the 8-27 UNR build, the time from pressing power to the full UI being up is indeed > 40 seconds (it is 43 seconds).

Unfortunately, there aren't really any changes that will significantly improve the boot-time and still keep UNR generic. There are, however, changes that can be made on a hardware by hardware basis. Specifically, disabling udev's modprobe rules on boot and manually loading the needed modules will result in about a 5 second improvement.

per Debbie's comment, we've made all of the generic changes we can. Hardware specific optimizations should be entered as separate bugs.
