Additional field "Start tracknumber" in GUI

Bug Description

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

The tracknumbers starts with number 1 for each CD that I insert. When ripping multiple disk volumes (e.g. audiobooks) it would be very helpful to change starting the numbering with a number other then "1".

I suggest to implement an additional field "Start track number" in the GUI where the user can enter the number of the first track. Sound-juicer than increases the number by 1 for each following track.

The feature "disc number" seems not to work with any mp3 player, e.g. samsung YP-K3 doesn't sort the tracks with multiple discs in the right order, so it seem, that it doesn't use the tag "discnumber" in a correct way.

thank you for your bug report, your usecase is marginal enough to not add an interface option which will be displayed all the time for all users and complicate the interface for everybody, the ubuntu team will not work on a such changes but feel free to argue upstream on bugzilla.gnome.org which is the right place for such changes if you really think that's something that should be available for all users

Changed in sound-juicer:

My intention is not to obligatory implement it in the main window, but to implement this feature in general to sound-juicer (in which place / dialogue box is another question).

It is a great feature of the MS windows based "cdex" software, escpecially for ripping audiobooks that's popularity increasing more and more. But this software is only available for windows.

There is no real reliable solution to rip audio books with sound juicer to play audiobooks in a right way on mp3 players, so I have to fallback continously to windows (what is a horror for me ;-)

So, you think I have to open an additional bug-report at gnome bugzilla?

you are the first one to request this feature in years and it's not clear so many users are wanting to copy audio books this way and those who do can enter the track numbers manually, you can discuss the option on bugzilla though, maybe the people who write sound-juicer have a different opinion

Sorry, I thought, that here is the right place to discuss this issue with the people who write sound-juicer... I don't really understand, why there are two bugtrackers for sound-juicer?! Ok, I will reopen a ticket in bugzilla.gnome.org. Thanks.

ubuntu is a distribution and doesn't wrote the thousand applications available there but focus on making an user friendly desktop environment using free softwares available, sound-juicer is a GNOME project and uses bugzilla.gnome.org, you can open distribution issues on launchpad but better to discuss code requests on bugzilla.gnome.org
