Message-id: <email address hidden> aptitude/ pkgstates not created on new install

Subject: /var/lib/
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.0-2
Severity: normal
After managing my system with apt-get for ages, including upgrading from
oldstable to unstable, I finally installed aptitutde and got this error
when I first tried to install something:
E: failed to rename /var/lib/ aptitude/ pkgstates to aptitude/ pkgstates. old - save_selection_list (2 No such file or
/var/lib/
directory)
Easy to work around - just touch /var/lib/ aptitude/ pkgstates - but the
package install should create this file if it doesn't exist.
