Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-media
HP Pavilion XG823, Celeron 700, using Intel 82801AA
Xubuntu Intrepid Alpha 2 + updates as of 20080723. Gnome added via ubuntu-desktop.
In Gnome the audio output is routed to the PC speaker instead of the speaker output jack. My economy USB-powered analog speakers may be low-quality but their fidelity is definitely better than a mono piezo element. Changing to any of the listed devices (ALSA, OSS, Pulse) does not change the output port. Tested with audio stream from Totem and VLC. Greeting sound at login screen (gdm) is normal. Speakers work normally with XFCE session.
