Error when sending big file

Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

When sending a file bigger than 2 gig the receiver ends tells the user that the transfer fails but the sender ends reports it fully transfered.

When you actually look at the file, the full transfer as occurred. This probably means that the variable that hold the file size on the receiver ends is a 32 bits Integer...

Thank you for reporting this bug. Please add your ubuntu version and the output of apt-cache search pidgin. Is this problem only with your pidgin version or have you tried different receiver?

It was actually the first time that I was sending such a big file over pidgin. I have absolutely no idea if its a new or old problem. All that I know is that I'm running the latest package.

Maybe I didn't understand what you meant but I don't see the point of trying another receiver since that's the receiver end of pidgin that is broken.

Here's the description of my system:
lsb_release -d =
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1

apt-cache policy pidgin =
pidgin:
    Installed: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1
    Candidate: 1:2.4.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1

The good news is that this bug does not impact the actual transfer of the file since the file actually get fully received by the receiver. It's only a minor display issue. Md5sum of the original file and receiver file are a match.

If you have any other question don't hesitate!
