If you can still reproduce this, I would be interessted in a screenshot of the expanded terminal window when the error happens. Somehow the real error seems to be not properly caught in the log.

The same happens to me. It freezes during package installation. I have to kill dpkg in order to continue. See screenshot.

This is a long time ago, but I got it working. I'm sorry, but I can't
remember how.
