It's been nearly three years, and hardinfo still doesn't list USB devices. What gives? Any news? I would assume it's rivial as lsusb listet them properly.

I think it is relatively unlikely that Ubuntu packagers and developers will add this new feature to hardinfo -- enhancement requests to application software are usually something to ask the "upstream" software developers about, instead.

@André Savik : If you would like to provide the "trivial" patch to hardinfo to do this, that would probably be more productive that asking "What gives? Any news?" -- write that patch, and it will *be* the news :) Based on personal experience, hardinfo developers do welcome user-contributed patches.

You could also generate an enhancement request on the bugtracker of the hardinfo application itself, if a similar request does not already exist there, since this request does not seem to be Ubuntu-specific. That bugtracker is at http://bugs.hardinfo.org/

summary: - USB devices does not perceive it.

Maybe this bug about missing USB devices list should be forwarded to upstream developers - http://bugs.hardinfo.org

@Jonathan Marsden: I really wouldn't consider this bug a "feature request". It's not like anyone wants something that hasn't been implemented yet: The "USB devices" tab is there (so the feature isn't really new, but is supposed to be working already) and was populated in earlier versions of Ubuntu - it's just that it stopped working at some point.
But yes, maybe upstream is still the place to fix this.

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 12.10 that includes hardinfo 0.5.1 right now. But it seems to be fixed in the current head revision f4b4651e372d4369e4a62e7ccfe357048b171f70 of the upstream git repository "git://github.com/lpereira/hardinfo.git". So it will be fixed in the 0.5.2 release.

But as this can take a while (0.5.1 has been out for quite some time, so the hardinfo guys don't seem to release frequently), the package maintainer might apply the bug fix to the Ubuntu package before the 0.5.2 release. Looks like the relevant commit is the following: https://github.com/lpereira/hardinfo/commit/d9e242117b7a73dd3057af25956027a361f7999f

Btw. the 0.5.2 commit might cause some additional work for the package maintainer, too: The hardinfo project changed the build system.

As of Ubuntu 17.10 there is a much newer package available with many fixes and improvements. Please try it and see if the issue is resolved.
