Bug Description

Binary package hint: gthumb

When I go to crop large images (long at least, that's all I know), they won't display in the crop window, regardless of its size.

Not the one in the screenshot, but has the same problem.
I think it's bigger, because this one even has a bit of a problem on the right side for viewing, not just cropping.

That photo gave me a problem in every program I have on my computer (although Eye of Gnome worked the best). This example I couldn't open correctly in gThumb at all. I'm going to have to wait to confirm until I get to faster computer. Can anyone else confirm?

Unfortunately this might be a current limit of gThumb: "gThumb is not optimized to handle huge images."

Btw, can anyone try opening the example picture in Firefox, and see if it crashes? (I recently broke a lot of things on my system which it difficult to tell if it was a real problem)

Maybe this is not extremely relevant, but I tried it under Firefox Minefield in Windows, and it had a small issue on the right end.

I tried it with Firefox 3.5.2, and it will show if you zoom it in, but while it's zoomed out, it won't update the view.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this.
It's good with 14000 and 23000 pixel wide images, but it's doing the same thing at 33000.

Here's my experience with the "ProblemExample" picture

I'm running Karmic

Gimp 2.6.7: opens fine

EOG 2.28.1: opens fine, only the far right part is blurred (yellow person cut)

Firefox 3.5.8: same, here the far right part is black (yellow person cut)

gthumb 2.10.x (I've got a repository compiled version):
- the whole picture opens fine
- in the crop tool, the image is completely blurred

gthumb 2.11.x:
- like EOG, opening is fine with far right blurred
- crop tool has the same problem, the image is completely blurred

Note that 2.10.x is obsolete and the developer(s) only works on the new 2.11.x rewritten serie.

Plus there's no upstream bug related.
