[Pidgin] Closing an IRC window logs me out of that channel

Bug Description

Ubuntu 8.04
Pidgin 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1
What happens:
* I log onto an IRC server
* I join a channel and chat a bit
* I select the top left 'X' (close) button
* Now I've left that room and other users get a 'logged off' message
What I expect:
* When I select 'X' (close) I expect the window to close. Nothing more.
* I should still be a member of that room/channel
