Bug Description
Ubuntu frequently complains about unclean shutdown and checks the harddisk for errors at start up which takes considerable amount of time and irritating. Most of the times I do a clean shutdown but it still keeps on complaining. I am using kernel version "2.6.24-19-generic" and ubuntu hardy heron.

What file system are you using? ext3? ext2? or other?
An easy way to find out is in Applications --> System Tools --> System Monitor --> File Systems.
Or you can attach you /etc/fstab file.
