Bug Description

There have been several reports of Brazilian Portuguese translations being replaced by European Portuguese (and vice versa) in some applications, such as GNOME Terminal and Network Manager. Please see:

* https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-pack-pt/+bug/247085
* https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+bug/222673

Can we have someone take a look at what's causing it?

Cheers,

Og

Hello,

Just to give more information, this bug is still present in Intrepid and people started to complain again about it [ at bug #204705 ].

It seens [ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-pack-gnome-pt/+bug/204705/comments/6 ] that a temporary solution would be to delete the line “X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gnome-terminal” in file /usr/share/applications/gnome-terminal.desktop . Maybe this information can help you to find the real cause for this bug.

Since the translations for Terminal in Brazilian Portuguese and in European Portuguese ("Terminal" vs. "Consola") are quite different, it is a annoying bug for Brazilian users. :-P

Cheers,
Daniel
