Bug Description

Binary package hint: java-common

Using java-common 0.28ubuntu3.

There's a dot missing from line 120 of update-java-alternatives. The symptom is an error message when running "update-java-alternatives -list <java package name>", and failure when running "update-java-alternatives -l <java packages name> -v":

$ update-java-alternatives -l java-6-sun
awk: cmd. line:1: fatal: cannot open file `/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun.jinfo' for reading (No such file or directory)
java-6-sun /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun

$ update-java-alternatives -l java-6-sun -v
listing java alternatives:
awk: cmd. line:1: fatal: cannot open file `/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun.jinfo' for reading (No such file or directory)
java-6-sun /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
egrep: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun.jinfo: No such file or directory

Bug still present in 0.30ubuntu4.

Patch still applies cleanly and fixes the issue.

Hi

This was fixed in java-common 0.36, which is available in Maverick. Older versions (Lucid and Karmic) are still affected.
