Bug Description
Binary package hint: file-roller
A crash occurs with file-roller when opening a .gz file lacking the extension.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Obtain a .gz file (echo "hello world" > hello && gzip hello)
2) Remove the .gz extension (mv hello.gz hello)
3) Open with file-roller (file-roller hello)
What should happen:
4) The compressed file is displayed in file-roller
What actually happens:
4) Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Originally reported (without apport) as bug #248868. Was confirmed there as being present in Gutsy, Hardy and Intrepid.
