Bug Description
Yesterday I applied the proposed Kernel update. in 8.04.1 kernel update 2.6.24-19 generic I think
I restart and went to Firefox...after 3 minutes...
I experienced a FREEZE.
This problem was frequent 3 weeks ago (no precise date). After few upgrades, which one I do not know, this FREEZE problem ceased to appear.
Maybe this is the effect of randomness...but maybe you reintroduced the FREEZE with the last Update
My machine is a Thinkpad X30 totally standard, with an very cautious and standard install of Hardy
Good luck

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http:// www.chiark. greenend. org.uk/ ~sgtatham/ bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http:// wiki.ubuntu. com/DebuggingPr ocedures - particularly, could you please follow the steps outlined in https:/ /help.ubuntu. com/community/ DebuggingSystem Crash and report your findings (in detail) here.
We also need to be sure that this isn't just an Xorg crash, as the symptoms can be similar. If you have a second machine, then you can SSH in to the sick machine, cause the crash and check if the SSH connection is still alive. If you don't have a spare machine, then please try CTRL+ALT+F1 to switch to a console after the crash. If this doesn't work, try Alt+SysRq+R and then CTRL+ALT+F1. Please report your findings.
Thanks
