Bug Description

Sometimes after logging in no window decorations appear on the windows. It is then necessary to log out and log back in again to restore the system to working order. It is as though the window manager is not being loaded. The problem appears randomly.

I am running Ubuntu Hardy Heron with all packages up to date.

This may be a duplicate of bug 244999, which has similar symptoms, except that the panel applets are not being loaded in that case.

Hi Bradford, thanks for your bug report and thanks for using Ubuntu! I noticed the line: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/hovinen/.compiz/session/default0", in your log. I wonder if that might be the issue. Does that line appear when the problem doesn't occur? And either way, could you also upload your .xsession-errors when it doesn't occur? Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

The bug occurs for me only rarely and it is impossible to predict when. Therefore I cannot reproduce it reliably. However, I will report again if it occurs for me under 8.10 or 9.04. Thank you.

I confirm this bug. The same happens for me also. It is random ,but there's no need to login again, just replace compiz with: # compiz --replace

I'll try to get a .xsession-errors when I get this bug again. For now this is whenever it works:
