Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs, or upload (as an attachment) the crash report from /var/crash/.

Also, please answer these questions:
Is this crash reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which Firefox extensions do you have installed?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem. I want to mention that this site displays fine for me.

This "bug" is 100% reproducible. 1st, open https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopTeam/Specs/GdmFaceBrowser in a new tab. Next, open http://people.ubuntu.com/~mmueller/login-experience-mockup.ogg in a new tab. Make sure no other tabs are open, except the two. Go to the login-experience-mockup.ogg tab and try to close any tab.

This bug is not reproducible in safe mode.

You must have macromedia flash 10, OPEN JDK Java, adblock plus, and the Totem plugins installed for this to occur.

Cannot get a backtrace.

Mark as "low" or "Won't Fix"

PS. Please Fix!

PSS. Picture of it right before the bug

My Firefox configuration is similar to yours and I do not get a crash. (The video is actually kind of neat.) However, I notice that you're using 64-bit Ubuntu and I'm using 32 bit. I'll have to test on my 64 bit machine later today.

Also note I am using Intrepid, which is Alpha. Will test hardy to see if it affects 8.04 32/64 bit.

Not sure if this is same bug or not. Updated Firefox via system-update to Intrepid current alpha today
(2008-08-28). At that time, firefox started breaking even worse than before on AMD-64 Opteron SMP
platform.

Just going to www.bell.ca breaks it every time.
