system doesnt create launchers when a program or software is install

Bug Description

i have installed diferent softwares like giSOMount, APTonCD and avant 4 antivirus and it does create launchers in "aplication menu", what could be happening, and after an update, they appears, but some of them, becouse avant 4 antivirus launcher is still missed.

For me (using Ubuntu 8.04.1) APTonCD adds a menu icon to "System->Administration" immediately on install. However, giSOMount does not and the package file list does not include a ".desktop" file; so I can confirm that. I'm not sure where you are getting "avant 4 antivirus" so I can not help with that.

i want to do this comment, the think is that in ubuntu 8.04.1 i install defferent software and they didnt place under aplication menu nor system menu, i am not talking a launcher at desktop, but in menus!!!!!!

Yes, the fix in the parent bug is for the menu icon. The file is xxx.desktop but it is for the menus. The fix has been made in the intreprid release.
