Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
I use Hardy with GNOME and when I try to switch user, my computer freezes.
The monitor gets dark and ScrollLock and CapsLock LEDs on my keyboard blink.
I found those lines as the last before my computer froze, in my /var/log/kern.log:
Jul 12 22:56:12 DESKTOP-Linux kernel: [ 2738.797602] gvfs-fuse-
Jul 12 22:56:13 DESKTOP-Linux kernel: [ 2740.408938] gdm[5573]: segfault at 916120 rip 7fa528e6255a rsp 7fff346e80f0 error 4
Jul 12 22:56:15 DESKTOP-Linux kernel: [ 2742.326663] ip6_tables: (C) 2000-2006 Netfilter Core Team
I have ATI HD2400Pro graphics card with latest fglrx drivers installed (8.47.3 says my fglrx-amdcccle).
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.
If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.
If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. apport/ apport- qt --crash- file=/var/ crash/_ my_crash_ report. crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_ report. crash is the crash you would like to report.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
