I've marked as affecting flashplugin-nonfree, then realised that you haven't actually said which one you do use. Can you check which flash player you're using (the main ones are flashplugin-nonfree from Adobe, gnash, and swfdec)?

Also, can you try creating a new profile, without any extensions, and testing if the same thing still happens? See the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs#head-fa398dbbff0621c74659f3a1303dfde9b46f221b

Sorry I forgot to say that, but it is in fact flashplugin-nonfree.

I tried to create a new profile and the output of the operation is in the first post. The operation with my default profile was the same. profiles.ini.txt said that because I was writing the post on that window and testing with the new profile on another :P

Sorry, it raised an error when you tried to create a new profile? You should probably file that as a separate bug report (after checking that it's not already recorded, of course).

If you can't make a new profile, could you make a new user account (which will automatically have a separate firefox profile), then log in to that, start firefox, don't install any extensions, and test to see if the same problem occurs?

No.

The error ocurred (first time) when I was using my own profile. Then I found https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs#head-fa398dbbff0621c74659f3a1303dfde9b46f221b and did create a new profile for testing. The creation of a new profile was fine, but the mouse click error was still there. The output of the first post was what showed up on the terminal when I was testing the error with the new profile.

The error ocurred with both profiles.

OK, in that case it's most likely a real bug in firefox or (I suspect) Flash. Since not everyone's seeing the problem, it must be due to some difference between your system and, say, mine. I don't know what that might be, but any information you can provide could be useful. In particular, what graphics card do you have, and what driver do you use for it?

I should also point out that flashplugin-nonfree is closed source, so Ubuntu developers cannot work on it. You may want to ask Adobe, who write it.

You may want to try flash 10 beta, for which there is a PPA somewhere that I can't find just now... It's also on Adobe's site, of course. However, I can't guarantee that it will solve your problem, and it comes with the usual caveats about being beta software.

I just installed the flash 10 beta, and the bug is gone.

So the bug is in the flash plugin, not in firefox.

Cool. I suggest you carry on using flash 10, then, if you don't have other problems with it. I doubt there will be much chance of getting it fixed in flash 9 now that they're working on flash 10.
