Bug Description

(I've already reported this to freedesktop.org <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16670> - text below)

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

---------- Begin freedesktop.org <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16670> ----------

Managed to produce this error consistently using Alien Arena from SVN and map
"Turbocharger2k8". When I turn off "shaders" I do not get the error. This
consistently crashes the game and sometimes freezes X. When X freezes, it
requires a ctrl-alt-backspace before I can get any other response form the
mouse or keyboard.

Here's the error message:

Mesa 7.0.3-rc2 implementation error: i915_program_error: Exceeded max nr
indirect texture lookups
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org
crx.sdl: intel_batchbuffer.c:145: intel_flush_inline_primitive: Assertion
`intel->prim.primitive != ~0' failed.
FutDaWuk entered the game
ACE: Loading node table...done.
Received signal 6, exiting...

---------- End freedesktop.org <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16670> ----------

Hi derek-ximbiot,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

 I have a friend I have been working with over the past couple of days getting AlienArena 2008 to work out and the terminal spit out the same error.

He has a PentiumM Dual machine, the onboard I915 chipset and hes still getting it. Hes using 8.10 and Ill get the Xlogs from him and other data that you specify.
