Bug Description

Binary package hint: fusion-icon

The option in "Select Window Manager" does not always show which WM is being used. It appears to display whatever option was last selected, even if that has now changed.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start Ubuntu and fusion-icon normally, using Compiz.
2) Change to Metacity via fusion-icon.
3) Restart Ubuntu.

What should happen:
Compiz starts up as my WM, and fusion-icon displays Compiz as the WM in use.

What actually happens:
Compiz starts up as my WM, but fusion-icon displays Metacity as the WM in use.

Ubuntu Hardy with fusion-icon 0.0.0+git20071028-2ubuntu2

I can confirm this bug. The same problem occurs when you use "metacity --replace" or "compiz --replace". fusion-icon does not recognize which window manager is actually running, it just keeps its old value.

Same problem exists in Intrepid development release.

I can confirm this too but I don't think the description is complete: in fact, it seems that Fusion-icon has different preferences from the system, rather than just displaying the previous choice.
If you select either WM in its menu, the choice will be lost after a reboot, with Gnome loading the WM from its own preferences.
