When you play a media file, then skip to another file and go up one level to the file view, the original file is still highlighted instead of the last view that was played.

1) Start Elisa
2) Play a media file
3) Skip forward a few files
4) Go up one level, the last file played is highlighted

Sounds invalid to me, the selected item and the currently playing item are two separate notions that I'm not sure we want to merge.
David, an opinion on the matter?

If I understand this correctly, it is about going back and having the currently playing one highlighted?
Off the top of my head we could probably do this actually but it needs to be looked at for all kinds of content...
Another option (more work but safer) is to 'mark' the currently paused item in the same way iTunes does it with a little speaker glyph (see attached)... not sure if this is what the bug is about though, needs more explanation.

Moving the selection automagically may be dangerous if the user does not expect that. IMO It should only happen when you go out from player / slideshow. There was a separate bug about that for photos.

Oh and yeah, the "Playing now" icon would be nice, too - especially if it would work cross-playlist.

If you'd be playing some shuffled playlist, for example, and hear a song that you remember you'd want to listen to the whole album of, just find the album, you'll see the song that is currently played with the mentioned icon and if you'd play it, only the playlist would change (the playing song should not be interrupted).

It is mostly an audio, music based thing that needs some feedback for 'playing now'. Of course, we are missing a 'Now Playing' er... 'thing' at the top of the screen as originally designed which is coming and provides a direct link to the player. But, again, there are some improvements that can be made...

1. Start at track 1 of an album... go to the player.
2. Wait until track 3 is playing and come out of the player back to the track list.
3. Two options here... 3a. The selector is on track three. 3b. As noted above about iTunes, there is a little glyph (audio glyph) to say what is currently being played back. (we would need a little glyph for different media types such as photos).

I am n favor of 3b as it is a little less intrusive and dangerous all round.
