Bug Description

The ngspice and xspice modules are already in their respective deb packages, and the ngspice project page says that they're in the Hoary repo, but I don't see them in Hardy. I think the current debs just need to be added to the current universe repo? To save people the pain of having to download them and run dpkg manually. I installed the most recent amd64 debs and they work just fine.

ngspice has been requested at Debian ( http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=489768 ), but is not in the Debian archives, has no maintainer, and appears to be making no progress.

License confusion: Sourceforge claims BSD License, while the Debian request claims GPL.

A new release of ngspice is promised for 1 December 2008.

The new release is out. Any hope for an inclusion?

What's the status on this?
Shouldn't this be a trivial thing?
It's either licensed GPL or it's licensed BSD.
If it's dual licensed, simply pick one (Debian will likely pick GPL), and move on.

This is one of the biggest things keeping me from routinely using Ubuntu.
Arch and Gentoo both have this and I'm sure other distributions do as well.
I've used ngspice r18 on both.

The license is BSD, in a future it's planning to port all the code to gpl, this is the confusion
