CALLIGRAPHY TOOL: Regression as new SVN sliders are lacking granularity

Bug Description

Summary: With the latest SVN, the Calligraphy Tool's spin boxes have been replaced with sliders. These sliders have only 10% increments and are far worse in selecting granularity than the original spin buttons. Further, they occupy more screen real-estate. On two fronts the new interface decision has degraded one's ability to function at a high level with the calligraphy tool. This may be considered a regression.

Version: Inkscape SVN version 19188

Platform: Ubuntu 8.04 amd64

Frequency: Always ( 5/5 trials for manifestations )

Possible Solution: If the decision to move forward is to keep the sliders, please provide far greater granularity. It is far from optimal to work with 10% steps and attempt to achieve what was easily achievable in earlier versions.

There is another idea here in the gimp brainstorm blog: http://gimp-brainstorm.blogspot.com/2008/07/slider-under-label.html#links

I've attached the image in case it gets lost.
