See bug #259597. The problem is that "Of" in the filename is written in capital when it should be

gpg --clearsign UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.0.1.txt

note the Code*of*Conduct where the "o" of "of" is in minor.

Do you actually have a file «UbuntuCodeOfConduct-1.0.1.txt.asc» on your hard drive?
And when you issue the command

gpg --clearsign UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.0.1.txt

are you in the right folder (the one where the file is)?

OK, I think you have to open the file with gedit, for example

gedit UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.0.1.txt.asc

and then paste this into the box in https://launchpad.net/codeofconduct/1.0.1/+sign

Don't double-click the file or something like that, you have to open it with a text editor.

Also, when you paste it into the box, be careful to paste EVERYTHING including the

--- Begin of PGP message ---

and

--- End of PGP message ---

I am having the same problem. I can not open it in gedit as it comes up a blank file. when I open this where there is actually information showing, I get a "no public key" error when I click continue on the page. I finally got it open using open office, but it still says it is invalid. The site won't accept it. Any words of wisdom?

Did you really paste EVERYTHING? See my post right above your post.

I pasted from before the first character thru after the last character. If it was in the document, I pasted it. I did include the things you said previously.

I agree with Lord Red Dragon. I am not sure if I am going to be able to become an Ubuntero at all on here. It won't accept my signature. I would really like to, but I can't seem to get it to accept my signature. I am running 8.10 if that makes any difference, but I don't see why it would. I spent about four hours trying to get my signature accepted, but could not. I wish I could at lease be made aware of what the problem is likely to be. I appreciate the help I have gotten, but I am afraid I continue to have the same problem.

To everyone having an issue signing the CoC, it would be best to ask a question in the Launchpad Answer tracker ( https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ ). That is the place which is best equipped to handle support requests.

All the best.

Just an FYI, guys, if you are having the problems I have been having, I was told in the answers section to follow the instructions on the page linked below. It doesn't appear to be any different than what I have been trying all along, but somehow it worked. Give it a look:

$ gpg --clearsign UbuntuCodeofConduct-1.0.1.txt
