White Screen Of Death Intrepid Ibex Alpha 1

Downloaded Intrepid Ibex Alpha 1 as soon as it came out. Installed it sucessfully on same PC that has Hardy Heron.

Intrepid Ibex Alpha 1 worked fine for the longest time until a recent update session. After installing next round of latest updates, started 2 get "White Screen of Death." Only way 2 get Intrepid Ibex Alpha 1 to work is 2 login using "FailSafe Gnome."

IAMD Sempron 2400 PC w/1.5GB of SDRAM. Using an ATI Radeon 9600XT MB AGP 8x video card. Using an ATA 160GB H/D.

I would like to point out that an alpha release is not complete and will contain bugs. Even more so this early in the development.

If you want help in trying to solve the issue, however. A lot more information will need to be provided regarding your hardware.

do ctrl-alt-F1
log in
enter the following
killall -e compiz.real
then ctrl-alt-f7
should now be back to your desktop

Fix Committed is to be used when a fix for a bug, in the form of updated software, is available. That is not the case with this bug so I am setting it back to New. You can learn more about bug statuses and how to use them at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status.
