Bug Description

The documentation currently recommends the use of gnome-app-install to install software. This is not possible with some software because gnome-app-install doesn't display it. A popular example is mp3 support and gstreamer-plugins in general. See the work in progress guide here: http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/desktopguide/C/ch03s03.html

It would be nice to add a desktop file for gstreamer-plugins (bad/ugly etc) so that they appear in gnome-app-install and it can be used for installing this software too, instead of having to use synaptic to do so.

Thanks for your bug. Bugzilla is not really the place for discussing such
changes. We already have a specification about this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EasyCodecInstallation. Feel free to comment on the wiki
or to mail the mailing list if you are interested to work on this, have some
suggestions, etc..
