Binary package hint: libpurple0

On http://pidgin.im/ it says 2.4.3 has been released, which according to the change log ( http://pidgin.im/ChangeLog ) fixes the recent connection issue with ICQ.

I have been hit with the ICQ issue also in the current release, Upstream version 2.4.3 seems to have fixed this issue.
