Mysterious X server termination (black screen)

Occasionally, on my Dell GX620 with 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller, the screen goes completely black, and eventually the GDM login screen reappears.

I found this in the log, and that's kinda all I have!

xserver-xgl has been deprecated upstream, and removed from Intrepid. Closing the bug as won't fix.
