Bug Description
My scanner worked perfectly in Debian Testing and Hoary. After updating (by a
new installation) to breezy the xsane starts for a few seconds. Its searching
for devices and quitting. A look into /var/log/messages shows me:
After pluging in the scanner:
Oct 24 01:14:33 defiant kernel: [4296362.148000] usb 2-1: new full speed USB
device using uhci_hcd and address 5
Oct 24 01:14:34 defiant usb.agent[10145]: libusbscanner: loaded successfully
A sane-find-scanner tells me:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x011d [EPSON Scanner],
chip=LM9832/3) at libusb:002:005
And finally a scanimage -L shows:
Oct 24 01:15:22 defiant scanimage: unable to open /var/run/
such file or directory: prnt/hpijs/
Oct 24 01:15:22 defiant scanimage: unable to connect hpssd socket 50002:
Connection refused: prnt/hpijs/
Any deinstallation of hplip-base and depending packages I wanted to do, wanted
to deinstall ubuntu-desktop. So what happens if I do? I'm confused :-S
OK, after bolstering myself, I've uninstalled
* hplip-base
* hplip-data
* and as a dependency ubuntu-desktop
So, my scanner works perfectly :). May somebody can solve the package problem,
because:
* not everyone has a scanner from hp
* newbies are overextended with this problem, which isn't really one.
At the End I have to say sorry, about publishing this as a bug, which isn't
really one.
