Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayer

Ubuntu hardy heron amd64 64-bit

I cannot view some videos encoded using wmv9dmo codec.
The sound works, but there is no video. Also, totem doesn't play it at all.

This is due to the fact that there is no support for all the 32-bit windows-based codecs
Would be good if we had packages for 64-bit such as:
mplayer-686
w32codecs-amd64

Hi,
you can use the 'w64codecs' package from medibuntu, which contains the last set of amd64 codecs as ditributed by the mplayer team. Please note that it doesn't have as many codecs as 'w32codecs'.

Cheers

Yes, but on a 64-bit Ubuntu if you have mplayer 32-bit and w32codecs you can use all of them :)
