Bug Description
Binary package hint: pan
Ubuntu 8.04.1
Pan 0.132-2Ubuntu2
Pan's been working fine for ages and started failing a couple of days ago with:
Tue Jul 1 18:49:20 2008 - Sending "MODE READER
" to XYZ returned an unrecognized response: "203 Ok"
Tue Jul 1 18:49:20 2008 - Unable to connect to "XYZ":
203 Ok
Pan is now offline. Please see "File|Event Log" and correct the problem, then use "File|Work Online" to continue.
Thunderbird and others continue to talk to this news server just fine, in spite of the "203 Ok" return code. Apparently they've changed something at their end that's now returning this code. However, it seems to me that Pan should recognise it and in fact seems to be the only NNTP client I have that doesn't.
Hardy is EOL. Is this still an issue for you with a newer version? Thank you for telling us!
