Bug Description

Randomly my setting of the touchpad on my Dell Latitude D830 change. For Example somtimes when i undock the laptop scrolling is disabled. Or somtimes tapping is enabled which i normally try to disable because it is not possible to configuer it in a way which is usefull, (when tapping enabled it is not possible to touch the touchpad without tapping). I then normally try to change the settings back to what i like in system>settings>mouse which dosent work (only reboot works ). Somtimes (i think it happens when moving to fast on the touchpad) it freezes my entire system, ctrl+alt+bacspace dosent work and even alt+print+b dosent work !!! I then see 2 lights blinking above my keyboard and i think this is aserious kerel panic, but i am not sure, maybe someone can tll me how to determine this.

I tried to find out, under which circumstances this behavior shows up, and found out that as far as i know it only happens in battery mode. Yesterday it also happen in battery mode but the laptop has not been docked on the docking station before. I also have to add that this laptop has also a trackpoint and up to now the described problem never showed up when using this , same with external mouse.
