Bug Description

Release:Ubuntu intrepid (development branch) Release 8.10 x64

Expected: Creation of ONE folder
What happend:
I've opened a DAVS connection with Gnome by davs://dav.bla.de/user.
If i right-click in Nautilus and choose create a new folder, the system shows me the "Preparing the Action" MsgBox until i cancel it.
After I pressed F5 I see the hundrets of new folders.
I can repeat this bug as often I want
Hope this helps!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

could you try if that's still an issue using intrepid stable?

yes it is

on two intrepids and one webserver - same issue
only folder are affected. (rename, create, copy ....)

imho seems like:
nautilus>server: create dir
server creates and locks
nautilus>server: dir?!?
server>nautilus: locked/NA/etc...

crawling thru the internet i found http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1619210&forum_id=82589

seems to be a problem with locks in nautilus.

How can i dis/enable locks (nolocks=1) in gnome-vfs???
please a step-by-step-intsruction 'cause i'm not really knowing much about gconf-editor and such.

could you run "GVFS_DEBUG_HTTP=1 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r", trigger the bug and copy the log there?

I have a very similar problem when using a samba share.

The remote folder is mounted via fstab. When Unix Entensions are enabled, creating a new empty file via the nautilus context menu results in thousands of new files (I haven't counted, I allways killed nautilus after a while).

But that's not the main problem because I don't create new empty files that way, very often. But trying to move a file (say 'file.avi') to the trash results in a million .trashinfo files ('file.1.avi.trashinfo', 'file.2.avi.trashinfo', 'file.3.avi.trashinfo' ...) created in <share_mounted_here>/.Trash-1000/info/. Again, I have to kill nautilus to stop the madness.

Creating files using 'touch', deleting them using rm and so on works without problems.

Server is Samba 3.3.2 on Jaunty.
Client is Jaunty, to.

When I disable the Unix Extensions, everything works without problems, so I think it has to do with file permissions. To GVFS, the mounted share should look like any other local directory, shouldn't it?

the bug there is a webdav one if you have a samba issue open a new ticket rather that will be less confusing
