Noise in playback output with intrepid

Bug Description

After upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid, sound output plays with some small noises.
speakers are silent until I play something, then they play a noisy sound!

I can play by avidemux! but nor totem, nor rythmbox.

I confirm this bug. Listening to music through rhythmbox and movies through VLC or totem result in a lot of noise over the normal playback. This bug only appeared in intrepid.

Hmmm, are you sure your not actually getting sound through the pc speaker as well?
