Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Ubuntu Version 8.04
Firefox Version 3.0
Picasa Version 2.70 Build 37.3615,0

When I click on the "Download Album" link nothing happens no matter what I do.

However the first time I clicked on it .. a dialog popped up asking me to select an application ... which I think just set up everything correctly in firefox's about:config page as described on this page http://linuxbraindump.org/2008/05/16/picasa-download-album-in-linux/

But now ... nothing happens ... restarting the browser or the os ... clicking the link with and without picasa running all does nothing.

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks

Download Link in picasa web album does nothing.

Running 8.04 64 bit, FF 3.0.1 and Picasa Linux 2.7 (Build 37.3615.0)
Download Link in picasa web album does nothing.

The following settings are already in about:config

network.protocol-handler.app.picasa;/opt/picasa/bin/picasa
network.protocol-handler.external.picasa;true

@sandy: Read your windows solution, but I cantt see how to apply it on ubuntu.

@Alex

Its very simple and works like in windows

Just open youre terminal and type
$picasa [link]

The link you can find when you open youre album in firefox and go to right click and go to view source then simply hit ctrl + f to search for picasa:// then copy it (ctrl + c) and paste as [link] as described above

I've successfully find how to download album using "Download Album" link

It's pretty simple. Just go in Firefox to Edit -> Preferences -> Applications tab -> type in bar "picasa" then under "activity" change from default picasa to "use another application" and go to path /opt/picasa/bin/picasa (simply double click on picasa)

Now you can simply download album from firefox without any "hacks"

Tested using Firefox 3.0.1 and Picasa 2.7.0 (Build 37.3615,0) & Ubuntu 8.04

Changed in firefox-3.0:
assignee: nobody → kuba-paszkowski
status: New → Fix Released

None of the described solutions worked for Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0.11

You can also upgrade to Picasa 3 (beta, but it works quite well) and download the album with picasa
Here can you download Picasa 3: http://picasa.google.de/linux/

OK chap's, I got it finally !!!

if, like me, you have a bunch of "picasa" occurrences in the source code
=> choose the line which begins with "_album.picasa"

If, like me, your source code does not show any "picasa://", but instead some "picasa:\x2F\x2F"
=> copy "picasa:\x2F\x2F..." till the end of the line in your text editor, and replace all occurrences of "\x2F" by "/"

then type in the Konsole:
/usr/bin/picasa picasa://...
=> if, like me, you have some luck, it works !!

Here's a link to an article that describes how to download
picasa web-albums without picasa.

the easiest way is just to install a firefox plugin called DownThemAll.
