Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome

The user name text is not correctly aligned. It appears to be one pixel higher than the text in other applets, like the clock.

If you place fast-user-switch-applet next to the clock, you'll notice that the username text is one pixel higher than the clock text.

This bug is pretty noticeable - especially on smaller screens. Would love to see this dealt with before Intrepid, since the default panel layout has fast-user-switch-applet enabled by default.

This is not the case on my machine (ubuntu 8.10, fusa 2.24.0-0ubuntu6.1), no matter what i set the panel height to... Both texts are vertically alligned as center...

Can you guys confirm that this is still an issue for you? If it is, please state the version of the fast-user-switch-applet package, and try playing with the panel height and see if you can make out a pattern...

I still have this bug.
My version of fast-user-switch-applet is 2.22.0-0ubuntu2 (as shown by synaptic, this should be the latest available version),
I have Ubuntu 8.04.1, kernel 2.6.24-22-generic.
Also this should be the latest version - I update almost daily.

How can I get ubuntu 8.10 and fusa 2.24???

stefan, if you want to upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10, you should go to system - administration - software sources, then to tab "updates", and under "release upgrades" select "normal releases"

Thanks for your advice!
Unfortunately there is no driver for my NVIDIA GPU with 8.10, so I cannot update.

I have a similar problem in Ibex 8.10, though it appears its the clock text that is higher than everything else and is visually distracting. Screenshot attatched
