Bug Description

Binary package hint: gvfs-bin

In Ubuntu 7.10 there was Firefox 2 web browser. By default it did not open downloaded files in application which I associated that filetype with in Nautilus.
To make firefox respect Nautilus associations, I added directive "network.protocol-handler.app.file gnome-open" in about:config dialog. This solved the problem. In Ubuntu 8.04 I have the same problem. I added directive "network.protocol-handler.app.file gvfs-open" in about:config dialog, but this does not solve my problem. Firefox opens downloaded file in different application, then set in nautilus. I tried to replace gnome-open and xdg-open by gvfs-open symlink in /usr/bin. But problem is still there. It is unplesant for my users to set their favourite application in nautilus and see that firefox and thunderbird ignore it. I have fully updated system.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm the bug remains in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid. The Open File-dialogs lacks gfs-mounted shares.

Changing from incomplete to confirmed since I see this on 8.10 and it shouldn't expire as incomplete. If the status should be something else, someone please change.
