Subject: subversion: svn segfaults when doing a checkout
Package: subversion
Version: 1.2.3dfsg1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
*** Please type your report below this line ***
The svn cmd line client segfaults, on an up-to-date
Sid/unstable system, when doing a checkout of a
project just added to the repository. The exact
sequence of commands is as follows:
svnadmin create /home/ssahmed/
cd /home/ssahmed/stage
svn import D1A-50/ file://
"Initial import into SVN"
cd /home/ssahmed/
svn co file://
The command line client segfaults at exactly the same
place (i.e. file and directory path in the source tree
being checked out) when it's checking out the source
tree.

Peter,
Unfortunately the source code in question is
confidential company product source code that I cannot
share for obvious reasons.
Let me see if I can come up with a test case that
duplicates the problem.
I'll write back if I am able to come up with some
other test case for which I can share the source code
with you.
This much I can tell you: the bug is repeatable,
consistent and happens at the exact same point when
checking out the code.
Thanks!

Thanks for the report. I tried and failed to reproduce your bug, using
a 400 MB backup of an old home directory. That contains a little of
everything, but it didn't segfault or fail in any other way. So I need
a test case.
Can you reproduce this with a directory tree you would be willing to
share as a .tar.gz file? If you can reduce the test case to a few
kilobytes, you can send the tarfile via email; if not, you can put the
tarfile up for download somewhere.
Thanks,
Peter

Peter,
Can you provide me with debug .debs of subversion? IE
.debs that contain debug binaries and libraries of
subversion. I can try and run subversion in GDB and
provide you with stack trace information, etc.
Alternatively, can provide me with an apt source for
downloading & building debug versions of all the
subversion binaries and libraries?
Thanks!

I built a set with debugging enabled and pointed him privately to it.
He may also be able to send me a test case.

This isn't happening for anyone else, and there doesn't seem to be enough
information in the bug report to reproduce it; downgrading accordingly.

I never received a test case. And for some odd reason, I only just now
(November 5) got this message from you from October 25. Could you
resend the test case?
Thanks,
Peter

why not closing this bug? Its very old, not reproducable,
not debug information given, no similar reports in the

Closing this one because it was unreproducible and because of the age
and lack of response. The submitter can feel free to reopen it if they
feel there is still a bug, preferably against a current version.
