Open and save dialogs very slow

Bug Description

Sometimes opening a save or open file dialog (in firefox or tovid but probably
other apps) takes in excess of 5 minutes. This didn't happen with 5.04.

When it happens top reports cpu idle as 90+%.

Thanks for your bug. What do you have to your ~/.gtk-bookmarks file? Do you have
any entry about non-local hosts which are not available? Could you get a
backtrace of the issue with gdb?
- gdb -p `pidof <app_which_does_that>`
(gdb) thread apply all bt

could you also get a "strace -p `pidof <app_which_does_that>` for it?

Ok, they are non-local hosts.

If they are unavailable I don't think it should lock up the app involved for
that long? Isn't there something else it could do?

Right, the current behaviour is not correct, that's now as bug #22491 already.
