Bug Description
Binary package hint: wesnoth
The music in Wesnoth stutters badly at the default sample rate of 44100Hz as if the audio buffers aren't being filled fast enough. If I change it to 22050Hz it's bearable, but there's a glitch every few seconds. I think the higher the sample rate the higher the rate of glitches; at 44+KHz there are several glitches per second. Also, the higher the sample rate, the lower the pitch sounds. The audio only seems to work at all when pulse is running. If I try to use ALSA or OSS it says it can't find a sound device.
I'm using Hardy Heron amd64 with wesnoth 1:1.4-1 and libsdl1.2debian 1.2.13-1ubuntu1. My audio device is an AD1986A according to ALSA Mixer.

I've just discovered I can correct it by increasing the buffer size option, but it should really get set to a big enough value automatically.
