Type 'firefox' in a terminal. Do you get any error messages?
Also, try running 'sudo aptitude reinstall firefox-3.0'...

Can you please try to run it with the following command?
firefox -safe-mode
This is assuming you didnt change your default browser to firefox-2 if
so please change it back to 3.0 and run the command above let me know
what happens please. I may need you to obtain a backtrace but i would
like to find out if safe-mode works first,
Have you ever run your firefox-3 using su or sudo? that can cause many
issues and is never suggested.
