Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Since Firefox 3.0 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061015 Firefox/3.0 in Hardy Heron I'm having problems using Gmail service.
Often I have a message "Oops!… the system encountered a problem (#102)" and I need to logout and login back to make it work normally.
I never had this problem using Firefox 3.0b5. I can make this problem happens when I want just by clicking on mail / conversation for 20 seconds.

When looking in the error console I see a lot of:
Warning: Error in parsing value for property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: https://mail.google.com/mail/
Line: 1

My ubuntu version is: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04

The distribution is fully updated.

The package version is: Firefox-3.0 3.0+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1

I'm expecting to have Gmail working, instead it loops trying to update forever and I need to log out and log on to make it work.

This has been happening to me as well. One solution I've found is using the old gmail interface (https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1), but that hardly solves the problem. On the other hand, even if it's a temporary measure to avoid the bug rather than a means to solve it, perhaps the solution lies nigh.

The same problems happens to me, this happens in Gmail and Yahoo!
The log on works normal, but when I click to open a message the simply don't open !
In Gmail the "Oops!… the system encountered a problem (#102)" appears, in Yahoo! just nothing happens !
The workaround suggested by loftarasa don't work for me :-(
Anybody have some idea to help ?

I completely erase my profile ~/.mozilla/firefox restored my bookmarks using foxmark and did a fresh install of all extension and now it's working great!

I think the problem is coming from firefox 2 profile.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, you are not using the most recent version of this package for your Ubuntu release. Please upgrade to the most recent version and when you are still having this issue, feel free to file a new bug-report. Thanks in advance.

Changed in firefox-3.0:
status: New → Invalid

I think the problem was a conflict between two extension:
- Better Gmail
- Customize Google.

Because when I reinstalled customize google with Better Gmail and my brand new profile, the bug came back. Remove Customize Google solved the problem.
