[Hardy]: Rhythmbox Won't resume after pause

I have a Hardy installation that is updated on an almost daily basis. I have been having this problem with rhythmbox since i installed Hardy. I was hopeful that it would have gotten resolved by now, since that wasn't the case I wanted to log a report and send some problem data.

I have encountered the problem will all files large and small. Essentially I start playing something and then I pause. When I press play again the elapsed time slider goes back to 0 and the pause icon is still visible adjacent to the file that was being played. Subsequent presses of the play button produce no results at all. I obtained an strace listing then I was forced to do a kill -HUP on the process to complete the capture.

The resulting strace file is approximately 200 mbytes in size. I compressed using "gzip --best" to insure that the size would be tolerated by Malone. Good Luck!

thansk for your report, can you get a rhythmbox log also? please run it as: GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=3 rhythmbox &> rhytmbox-debug.txt compress that file and attach it to the report, thanks.

I've just started getting exactly the same problem, on two different laptops, which were fine as of a few days ago. Both are regularly patched, with the same versions of Rhythmbox as in the original report. I'm attaching the debug log.

Just tried Banshee 1.0 - same problem. Could the problem be with GStreamer? Output from dpkg -l *gstreamer* :

Even after restarting rhythmbox after a "pause crash" it wont play.
Restarted rhythmsbox after a crash. chose a song. had to force quit.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Intrepid Ibex. Thanks, Pedro, I'll test with Intrepid as soon as I can. Just to let you know, I have not had this bug for a while now, so it is entirely possible that it was fixed as a result of other fixes that got rolled in.

I'm on Intrepid, AMD64, and when I pause a song from the tray's icon, then it refuses to resume. Even more, when I try to start a new song after that, Rythmbox freezes. My system is up-to-date.

is it a known bug or need some extra information?
