Bug Description

Binary package hint: specto

Unfortunately I can't say for sure what version this started at. But recently, the list of URLs that I was having specto monitor was lost.

I looked at ~/.specto/watches.list. Again, unfortunately I don't know what the correct format is. But I assume it's got to have the URLs there somewhere, and other settings like the refresh interval and error tolerance. Somehow all that was lost. This is what the file looks like now:

[Website name]
updated = False
filesize = 32975

[Anoter website name]
filesize = 29861

[Another]
filesize = 47884

... and so on.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been bit by this bug: http://code.google.com/p/specto/issues/detail?id=37

We "think" that it was fixed in the development version (specto-woutc branch), but we are not sure 120%. If this is in your skillset, you might want to run the specto-woutc bazaar branch and help test if this is fixed. Indeed, the problem is that this issue happens once every few months or so, it is not easy to reproduce.

I've been running specto for about three days, and it just happened to me. Not as uncommon as you might think, perhaps.

If you're able to be "lucky" like that, then I would recommend testing the specto-main branch. I have not experienced the issue since I began using it last spring. Your feedback on that development version (which actually is more stable than the 0.2.2 version) is welcome.
