Bug Description

When double-clicking on a dbf file, the system says no application is associated with it. When to click "open with" option and select gnumeric, it displays a message "file format is not supported".

But if to start gnumeric separately and open the file from menu, it opens successfully.

Hello Nxx.
I wanted to check this bug but at the moment I don't have any dbf file. Can you attach the file which is failing?

Thanks for the attachment, but could you possibly give an attachment in something other that a windows executable file? It would make checking out the bug in Ubuntu much easier.

This is a self-extracting archive - open in archive manager.

I have no other example to test.

Thanks for helping to improve Ubuntu.

I extracted the archive and tested this using both Xubuntu Hardy_Heron 8.04 and Xubuntu Intrepid_Ibex 8.10. After selecting Gnumeric as the ¨open with...¨ application and insuring that ¨Use as default for this kind of file¨ at the bottom is checked, the dbf files opened as expected.

Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

This is under Ubuntu Hardy. In Intrepid all opens well, thanks to this http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542780 bugreport.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Intrepid Ibex.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please follow the instructions for "How to request new packages" at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#request-new-packages
