Mouse sometimes stops reacting to buttons and scroll wheel, cursor randomly changing position

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I've installed Hardy shortly after the release. Everything worked fine until some updates at the end of May/beginning of July.

From time to time (~half an hour) cursor changes position (it's sudden change: ~200px from where it was before). Once in an hour or two, computer stops responding to mouse clicks. Cursor moves smoothly, but pressing left/middle/right mouse button has no effect, the same for scroll wheel. When I take a break and return after a minute or two, everything works fine.

I tried to disable compiz and nvidia proprietary drivers, but it doesn't help. Perhaps it's a X's issue (it's 1:7.3+10ubuntu10.1)?

I've got hardy-proposed and hardy-backports enabled. The mouse is Logitech MX610 (it's wireless, but nothing disrupts the communication - under Vista it works perfect).

I've also noticed unintentional mouse clicks (e.g. when I come back after some time, I see that Firefox context menu is opened).

BTW, sometimes right-clicking makes the menu appear in a whole different point on a screen.

Hi mati-wroc,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
