Screen Saver doesnt unlock during upgrade

Bug Description

Using KDE but probably would happen to GNOME too.
If you have set your screensaver to be resume password protected, and if you
start upgrading your Ubuntu (in the case i got the bug i was upgrading from
version 5.04 to 5.10), the upgrade shuts down the authentication services, so
you cannot unlock your screen or start any new sessions. So, you get yourself
locked out.

(no, this isn't a problem under Ubuntu/GNOME)

yes, after a recent upgrade, my gnome-screensaver stopped unlocking.

i do dist-upgrades almost daily, so this has a recent cause...

_deepfire: your problem is in gnome-screensaver, like you said. File another bug.
